The Next Big Thing is a programme for talented young musicians who want to take their music making to the next level.

The Next Big Thing is a professional programme of support and mentoring for young musicians with learning disabilities aged 15 to 25, helping them access opportunities to develop as emerging artists. The Programme is also a pathway for talented young musicians who start by attending our Soda Jam workshops.

The Next Big Thing gives participants opportunities to enhance their confidence, skills and experience, whilst helping them realise their musical aspirations to rehearse more regularly; write new original material; perform live; grow an audience for their music on social media; and record and publish their own music.

Participants are supported in different ways depending on their needs and ambitions. See How We Do Things.

The Next Big Thing is supported by:

  • “The support has given me confidence to know that I can complete an album. It has also inspired me to start a Foundation Degree course at ICMP on Music for Film and Games.”

  • “Being in the band gave me confidence that I could write my own songs and perform in front of people. The experience helped me get onto a music course in Brighton.”

  • “The opportunities this project has given me are so important to fulfilling my dreams of making music and touring with the band.”
